Are you not totally blown away?

Believe it or not the text below was written by Artificial Intelligence, not by me or any other human - when prompted the question : write a paragraph about women in tech

The importance of women in tech cannot be overstated. Despite making up half of the world's population, women are significantly underrepresented in the tech industry, which can have negative consequences for both women and the industry as a whole. Diversity in the tech industry leads to more innovative solutions, better products, and a more inclusive work culture. Women also bring unique perspectives and experiences to the table, which can help to create more equitable and user-friendly technology. In order for the tech industry to thrive and truly innovate, it is essential to have equal representation of women. This means encouraging more women to pursue careers in tech, supporting them in their professional development, and creating a more inclusive and supportive work environment.

Are you totally blown away? Let me tell you more about it:

Open AI, a company started by Elon Musk has released recently a chatbot called ChatGPT that can replicate human intelligence level text writing. So to make it clear : it is not a robot copy-pasting text and information from different sources. It is really a product of the computer’s previous knowledge and ‘’creativity’’. A computer was trained over time with tons of information, which ‘’he/she’’ assimilates ( meaning runs billions of calculations with input data, while refining the output). It is not stored in a database and then searched and used case by case. The computer ‘’learns’’ the same way humans do by intaking information and then making associations between concepts. Amazing right? While it is undoubtable amazing, it is actually nothing totally new. Artificial intelligence – code wise exists since a few decades, but the hardware/ computer power was simple not at a level to sustain it.

Why is it so amazing? It can write in almost any language, about any topic with different level of complexity. You can see an example below :

I made a post about the dangers of AI (https://www.technologyforher.com/post/the-dangers-of-artificial-intelligence ), in a previous post, but we see the first miss-use cases about to happen:

Students using it as own academic work, as it cannot be checked for plagiarism. The output is unique, not stored anywhere on the internet and not replicable.

With this level of skill and improving – in the future many mediocre writers, blog writers, freelancers, computer programmers ( yes it can also write simple code) will become obsolete.
